The Creator
Behind ShawNova Arise is Cherquentia S. Crawford, a multidisciplinary creator, music producer, and entrepreneur with more than two decades of experience in music and creative media.
Crawford has been involved in music since 2004, developing projects across songwriting, recording, production, and independent music distribution. Over the years, she has built and contributed to several creative ventures including CQ Productions, CQP Recording Studio, and Ardent Records, each helping shape her foundation in music creation and studio production.
In 2016, Crawford founded Tha Closet Studios, a creative platform dedicated to music, digital storytelling, and multimedia content. The company later became Tha Closet Studios LLC, officially registered in the state of Texas in 2021.
Crawford also studied at The Art Institute of Dallas, majoring in Interior Design with a minor in Video Production, expanding her creative work into visual design and media production.
Crawford has also been open about living with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID). Because DID can affect consistency in performance and presence during recording sessions, maintaining traditional vocal performances can sometimes be challenging. Rather than allowing this to limit her creative expression, Crawford developed ShawNova Arise—a digital music artist that allows her to continue writing, producing, and sharing music while using technology to support the vocal performance process.
Today, ShawNova Arise represents the next chapter of Crawford’s artistic journey—combining decades of music experience with emerging technology to explore new forms of digital artistry, storytelling, and creative expression.
